One of the oldest known team sports in history, Polo is played on horseback with riders needing to control their horse while being able to use a long handled wooden mallet to bat a ball between the opposing team's goal posts. Known as the “sport of kings”, Polo was developed as a way to train cavalry units in elite armed forces. In present day it is played as a spectator sport worldwide.
