Port Esperance Sailing Club

Port Esperance Sailing Club (PESC) is a family-oriented sports club located in the Huon Valley Council in Tasmania, Australia. The club aims to bring people of all ages together to share their love for the water. After the devastating fire that destroyed the original clubhouse on 23rd April 2020, PESC has successfully rebuilt a beautiful new club building, which is now open and partially occupied.

As the southernmost yacht club in Australia, PESC offers various activities for its members, including regular dinghy racing, yacht cruising, and sail-training programmes. The club provides a safe and welcoming environment for individuals and families to enjoy sailing and engage in friendly competition.

The new club building at PESC is a universal-access community space with modern facilities. The design was developed after extensive community consultation and includes clubrooms, underfloor storage for boats, a bar, commercial-standard kitchen, and toilet and shower facilities. The construction is being carried out by Cygnet Brand Builders, and the club hopes to obtain official occupancy in April 2023.

While the building is near completion, there is still a shortfall of funds to complete the fitout. PESC has launched a fundraising campaign called “Buy A Block” to raise funds for the final stages of the project. The club also aims to secure additional funds through government grants to ensure the full completion of the clubhouse.

In addition to sailing events, PESC hosts Friday evening happy hours and Sunday afternoons on the deck, providing a social and relaxed atmosphere for members and friends to connect and enjoy the scenic waterfront location.
