Power House Martial Arts is a sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 1989 by Mesut Kahraman, a 7th DAN Black Belt and Australian champion, the club has since become renowned for producing multiple Australian and World Titleholders in the field of martial arts. Mesut runs the club alongside his son Cem Kahraman, a 5th DAN Black Belt and Head Instructor.
At Power House Martial Arts, they offer a range of programmes tailored to different age groups and skill levels. The Mini Rangers programme is designed for 3-6 year olds and focuses on building a strong foundation in martial arts. Through drills and exercises that target coordination, balance, and flexibility, the programme also instils important values such as respect and discipline. Topics of the month, such as Bully Busting and Responsibility, are covered to teach lifelong skills and boost confidence.
The Martial Rangers programme is for children aged 7-12 and builds upon the skills addressed in the Mini Rangers programme. This programme heavily emphasises discipline and Bully Busting, with monthly topics aimed at shaping the character of each student. The Power Rangers programme, for students aged 13-15, focuses on developing leaders in society through the principles of martial arts. It builds confidence during the teenage years and offers the opportunity for higher belt Power Rangers to join the Power House Junior Instructors Team.
For teens and adults aged 16 and above, Power House Martial Arts offers advanced Taekwondo classes. These classes prioritise fitness and technique, providing a safe environment for participants to learn and excel in martial arts and self-discipline.
For those interested in tournament-style training, the Junior, and Senior Sparring Clubs offer specialised classes. The Junior Sparring Club is a foundational tournament class that helps students develop their technique and fighting styles, while the Senior Sparring Club focuses on teaching students to be comfortable under pressure in a tournament setting. Through the guidance of the Power House Club's world-class coaches, athletes are further developed to compete at the highest level in Australian and international tournaments.
In addition to Taekwondo, Power House Martial Arts also offers boxing and kickboxing classes for both junior and senior participants. These classes are a great way to improve health, coordination, strength, and fitness. Students have the opportunity to boost their confidence, discipline, and technique in a safe and supportive environment.
