About

Praying Mantis Kung Fu Academy is a renowned sports club located in Sydney, NSW, Australia. Established in 2000, it was originally known as Kung Fu Republic and has since gained recognition for its exceptional Chinese Kung Fu, Wushu, Tai Chi, and Self Defence training programmes designed for both adults and children.

The academy takes pride in offering classes that not only promote physical fitness but also provide numerous health benefits. Students have the opportunity to learn ancient and secret techniques that can strengthen their hands and arms to the point where a single slap can deliver a powerful blow or cause significant harm to an opponent.

Under the guidance of Master Wang, the academy has achieved remarkable success. In November 2012, Master Wang and one of his students secured Silver Medals at the 5th World Traditional Wushu Championships held in Huangshan, China. The academy's students also shone at the Oceania Kung Fu Wushu Championships in September 2012, winning an impressive total of 20 Gold medals, 9 Silver medals, and 7 Bronze medals. Additionally, Master Wang himself won three Gold medals at the Singapore International Traditional WUSHU Competition in July 2012.

An interesting facet of Praying Mantis Kung Fu Academy is its connexion to Grand Master Fan Shu Long, who learned Kung Fu while working in the Chinese Opera alongside Liao Kong, a Shaolin monk. Fan Shu Long later became the Grand Master of a local Kung Fu school and is, in fact, Shifu Daniel Wang's grandfather. This lineage is a testament to the academy's deep-rooted history and rich martial arts heritage.

Shifu Daniel Wang, the master instructor, was born in Shandong province, China, and began his Kung Fu training at the age of 6 under the guidance of his grandfather, Fan Shu Long. His training was rigorous, often starting at 4 am and ending at 10 pm, and he had the privilege of learning various Chinese Kung Fu techniques from renowned masters, including a few who were the successors of secret ancient Kung Fu skills. The skills that Shifu Wang acquired throughout his life allow him to apply different techniques adeptly in self-defence situations.

In addition to being a Senior Instructor for the Chinese Army, where he specialised in training bodyguards, Shifu Wang has dedicated his life to studying and teaching martial arts. He founded Praying Mantis Kung Fu Academy in Sydney, Australia, with a vision to share his knowledge and expertise, enabling students to develop physical strength, mental discipline, and self-confidence through the practise of Kung Fu.

One unique aspect of the academy's training programmes is the inclusion of Tai Chi Ball. This ancient and often secretive training method has significant health benefits and is key to understanding Tai Chi movement and enhancing sensitivity to Qi. Tai Chi Ball training teaches coordination, fluidity, and connexion throughout the entire body, from the soles of the feet to the tips of the fingers. It strengthens the energetic circulation within the body and heightens awareness of the upper and lower energy centres.

Praying Mantis Kung Fu Academy is dedicated to ensuring that the art of Kung Fu is passed down to future generations. As the academy continues to uphold its reputation as a leading martial arts institution, it remains committed to providing high-quality training and empowering individuals to reach their full potential in both physical and mental aspects.

Join Praying Mantis Kung Fu Academy and embark on a transformative journey that nurtures not only self-defence skills but also personal growth, well-being, and a deep understanding of martial arts philosophy.
