Welcome to Ransley Ballet and Dance Centre, a renowned sports club located in the beautiful Gold Coast, Australia. With a rich history spanning four generations, Ransley Ballet has established itself as a leading institution in the art of dance.
The journey of Ransley Ballet began in the suburbs of Sydney, under the guidance of Florence Ransley. Her daughters Dawn, Shirley, and Joy played integral roles in the development and success of the school. Joy, in particular, showcased her exceptional talent and earned a scholarship at the London Royal Ballet School, followed by performances with The Netherlands National Ballet Co.
Upon their return to Australia, Joy and Dawn founded a successful dance school in central Sydney, specialising in classical ballet and offering modern and contemporary dance styles as well. Joy became a prestigious Children Examiner and vocational examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).
In the 70s and 80s, Ransley Ballet experienced great success in Irish Dancing, with Fiona Gaye Snowden, Shirley's daughter, winning a World Irish Dance Championship. The school also received two “World Titles” for their stunning “Figure Dancing” performances.
In 1982-83, Ransley Ballet relocated to the Gold Coast, bringing their expertise and passion for ballet and theatre. Kathleen Gorham, who played a significant role in the school's history, influenced their teaching approach. The school continued to thrive, with notable performances at the Opera House and beyond.
Today, Ransley Ballet and Dance Centre continues to offer the highest quality training to aspiring dancers. Their teaching philosophy revolves around providing individual care and guidance to all students throughout their journey. This approach has produced numerous success stories, with Ransley dancers excelling in classical ballet and musical theatre.
Throughout the years, Ransley's classical ballet students have gained entry into prestigious ballet schools and companies both in Australia and internationally. The Hall of Fame proudly lists Ransley students who have worked or currently work in the industry.
Ransley Ballet has also played a crucial role in nurturing and developing professional dancers through their association with the Queensland Youth Ballet (now the Gold Coast City Ballet).
Led by Nicole Ransley, a First Artist of the Royal Ballet UK and Royal Swedish Ballet, Ransley Ballet and Dance Centre continues to excel in providing exceptional dance training and shaping the future stars of the art of dance.
