Located in Adelaide, South Australia, Jennibrook Farm is the home of Riding for the Disabled Association SA (RDASA). This sports club is dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in horse-related activities. RDASA is a voluntary, nonprofit organisation that aims to create a safe and inclusive environment for recreation, sport, and therapeutic purposes.
Riding for the Disabled Association SA is affiliated with the Federation of Horses in Education and Therapy International (HETI) and the Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia Ltd. (RDAA). The organisation was first incorporated in South Australia in 1972 and has been serving the community ever since.
At Jennibrook Farm, a variety of programmes are offered for both pleasure and competition. Participants with disabilities ranging from 3 to 85 years old are eligible to take part in these programmes. The club provides unmounted as well as mounted activities, allowing individuals to engage with horses both on and off the saddle.
The farm offers unmounted activities such as supported volunteering, where individuals can assist with the care and maintenance of the horses. This gives participants an opportunity to develop new skills and connect with the animals in a meaningful way. In addition, various riding lessons and therapeutic sessions are conducted, providing a unique form of physical and emotional therapy.
Jennibrook Farm operates on specific session times to ensure the smooth running of their programmes. Riding lessons take place on Thursdays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, and on Fridays from 9:30 am. The grounds are conveniently located at 72 Pine Road, Woodcroft, with a separate mailing address at 3A Majors Rd O'Halloran Hill, SA.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, RDASA follows an extreme weather policy. Riding lessons will be cancelled if the forecast temperature for Noarlunga is 33 degrees or higher, as announced on the ABC the night before. During wet or cold weather, riding will be cancelled if persistent rain is expected or if the forecast temperature for Noarlunga is 13 degrees or below.
Riding for the Disabled Association SA is grateful for the support they receive from various organisations. Bonnetts SaddleWorld, located at 125 Portrush Road, Evandale, SA 5069, is one of their supporters. They also receive support from Variety, Adtrans Group, Survey Hero, Pet Stock, and Kohnkes Own.
