About

Sandsports Australia is a renowned sports club located in Perth, Western Australia. It is home to Sand Volley Australia, which boasts the largest social beach volleyball competition in the region. With over 250 teams participating each week, there is a division to suit every level of skill and experience.

At Sandsports Australia, players can expect a social and welcoming atmosphere, which is enhanced by the availability of bar facilities. After a game of beach volleyball, participants can relax and enjoy a beer with their teammates and fellow sports enthusiasts.

The club currently operates two venues for its competitions: Nedlands and North Beach. The Nedlands venue is situated at 34 Verdun St, Nedlands, while the North Beach venue is located at 7 Kitchener St, North Beach. To view the exact locations on a map, visitors can refer to the club's website.

Sandsports Australia offers several sports options for players to choose from. These include five-a-side beach netball, as well as pairs and fours volleyball. Game times vary and rotate weekly, taking place at 6:20pm, 7pm, 7:40pm, and 8:20pm. Teams have the flexibility to include substitutes if they have more players or if certain individuals are unable to attend specific weeks.

The beach netball competition at Sandsports Australia is currently open to mixed teams, with the option to have an all-female team if desired. Mixed netball games strictly allow a maximum of three male players on the court at any given time. On the other hand, the beach volleyball competitions feature various grades, catering to players of all skill levels, from beginners to competitive players. There are no specific rules regarding mixed teams for volleyball; teams can consist of all males, all females, or a combination of both.

The emphasis is on ensuring that teams are placed in the appropriate grade based on their skill level.

Season registration fees cover the entire team for an 11-week season. The costs differ depending on the sport and format chosen. For netball, the registration fee is $605 per team, equivalent to $11 per person per game. For pairs volleyball, the fee is $325 per team, equal to $16.

25 per person per game ($350 for the Nedlands Wednesday Summer Season). Lastly, the fee for fours volleyball is $550 per team, which amounts to $13. 75 per person per game. Sandsports Australia operates on upfront payment only, with team fees expected to be paid in full two weeks before the start of the season.

Payments can be made in person, via EFTPOS, or through PAYID or internet transfer to the provided bank account details. Invoices are available upon request, and all costs include GST.

Scoring in competitions follows a point system, with teams earning four points for a win, two points for a draw, one point for a loss, and no points for forfeits. Teams that fail to show up without prior notice face a penalty of -4 points. The ladder position is determined by the total number of points accumulated. In netball, teams' percentages are used to break ties, calculated based on their total scores for and against in all their games.

In volleyball, sets won against sets lost determine the percentage. Sets in non-final matches are played to a maximum of 21 points, and if the set score is tied at 1-1, the third set becomes live, with a team only needing to be one point ahead at full time to win.

At the end of the regular season, which spans 10 weeks, the top four teams in each grade proceed to the finals. These matches take place the following week, with the first-ranked team playing against the fourth-ranked team, and the second-ranked team facing off against the third-ranked team.

Sandsports Australia aims to provide a thrilling and competitive environment for sports enthusiasts in Perth. With its expansive beach volleyball competition, state-of-the-art facilities, and inclusive atmosphere, it is the ultimate destination for those seeking fun, fitness, and camaraderie in the sporting community.
