Shire Gymnastics is a sports club located in Sydney that offers a wide range of small group gymnastics classes for children of all ages and abilities. The club aims to create a fun and engaging environment for children to enjoy gymnastics with similarly aged friends.
The classes are held Monday to Saturday and are taught by qualified coaches who provide age-appropriate activities and skills. The coaches focus on developing coordination, strength, and flexibility, as these are essential for the development of gymnastics skills.
Shire Gymnastics has a variety of apparatus available for gymnasts to use, including the Sprung Floor, Bars, Beam, Trampoline & Vault, Rings, Climbing Bars, Rope, and Rhythmic Apparatus. This allows the gymnasts to experience a variety of gymnastics disciplines and further develop their skills.
The club offers different classes to cater to the needs of children of different ages. The “Littlies Combined” class is a less structured class for children aged 0–6 years that allows for parent involvement. This class is suitable for young children who may need more assistance or benefit from less structure. Parents can also bring more than one child to the same class.
The "Kindy Gym” class is designed for preschoolers aged 3–5 years and focuses on fundamental gymnastics movement patterns. This class is non-parent involved and is led by accredited and engaging coaches. Quality equipment is provided to support the child's gymnastics skill development.
For children older than 5 years, the club offers the “Rec Gym” classes, which are fun and small group recreational gymnastics classes. The classes are categorised by age groups to ensure that children are grouped with similarly aged friends. There is also a specific “Boys Rec” class available to create an opportunity for boys to train with other boys if they prefer. Boys are welcome to enrol in any of the Rec Gym classes.
Shire Gymnastics also offers an Advanced Gym class for children who are progressing quickly and showing more advanced potential. This class serves as a pathway to the club's competitive gymnastics programme, though participation in the competitive programme is not mandatory.
For teenagers aged 12 years and up, the club offers the “Teen Gym” class, which is a fun and small group recreational class designed for teenagers to enjoy gymnastics with peers of the same age.
During school holidays, Shire Gymnastics hosts recreational gymnastics programmes where children can participate in fun and small group classes. These programmes are suitable for both new and experienced gymnasts who are looking to move and have fun.
