A winter sport where participants descend snow covered inclines attached by their feet to a board. Riders wear specially designed boots that can clip or strap into bindings secured to their board. Taking the sports of surfing and skating to the snow, snowboarding allows riders to perform tricks, jumps and top speeds. Distinct styles of snowboarding competitions exist, including halfpipe, freestyle, freeriding, boardercross, with specialised equipment possible for each style.
