Established in September 1975, Southport Carrara Netball Association (SCNA) is a prominent sports club in Gold Coast, Australia. Originally known as Keebra Park Netball Club, affiliated with the Gold Coast Netball Association, the club changed its name to SCNA in 1993. Throughout its history, SCNA has witnessed the success of many junior players at representative level, and with a strong emphasis on development, the club aims to continue this trend in the future.
SCNA operates under the guidance of a dedicated and passionate group of volunteers. Affiliated with Netball Queensland, the club adheres to their management structure, policies, and procedures. All players are registered through this affiliation, enabling them to participate in various competitions. The club's funding comes from game fees (after deducting overheads), carnivals, and fundraising events, while major projects are supported by community grants.
As a non-profit organisation, SCNA reinvests these funds back into the association for the benefit of its members and future endeavours.
Currently, SCNA runs four competitions catering to the entire community. The Junior Competition takes place on Saturday mornings from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. The Monday night Competition includes divisions for Intermediates (aged 13 to 16 years), Ladies/Open (aged 14 and above), and a Mixed division (aged 16 and above). This competition is held at the Benowa Road home courts.
The Elite one-hour competition takes place on Tuesdays, and the Thursday night competition is held at Emmanuel College, Carrara Stadium, and St Kevin's Catholic School. Netball is played all year round, with two seasons: January to July and July to December.
Currently, SCNA boasts a membership of 1477 registered players, including juniors, seniors, umpires, and officials, making it one of the largest netball associations in Queensland.
