Sporting Motorcycle Club

Sporting Motorcycle Club (SMCC) is a sports club located in Geelong, Australia. With a history spanning over 90 years, SMCC is a member-based club that is run by members, for members. The club offers a range of activities and events for motorcycle enthusiasts in the Geelong area.

One of the highlights of the club is its annual general meeting (AGM), which serves as a platform for members to come together and elect office bearers and officials. The AGM is also an opportunity for members to get involved in helping the club by filling committee positions. To celebrate the move to their new club rooms, SMCC hosts a BBQ during the AGM, provided by their resident Chef "Bott”.

In addition to the AGM, SMCC holds regular meetings, where members can renew their memberships and permits. These meetings also provide a chance for members to catch up with their riding mates and engage in discussions about motorcycles while enjoying a refreshing beverage. One of the exciting aspects of these meetings is the lucky member door prize, which is drawn at random and can be collected by the winner if present.

SMCC organises various rides for its members, such as the Red Plate Monday Ride. This ride allows members to come together and explore different routes in and around Geelong. The rides are designed to be enjoyable and safe, with designated stops for coffee and chats. Recently, the club almost broke its Red Plate Monday attendance record, indicating the growing popularity of these rides among members.

Another popular event organised by SMCC is the annual Poker Ride. This event attracts many participants, with over 50 people joining the ride. The Poker Ride offers an opportunity for members to showcase their machines, ranging from classic enduro bikes to ultra-modern super bikes. The ride also includes classic cars, further adding to the excitement.

Winners of the Poker Ride receive cash prizes, with a portion of the pool collected being donated to the club.
