Back in 1974, the primary school of the same name in Lane Cove in Sydney started a Football club so they could field multiple U6 - U12 teams in what was then the KDSA competitions.
In 1999 a group of fathers from the same school formed a new team as a method of re-igniting a regular routine of exercise and also to create a forum where fathers in the area could meet and get to know one another.
By coincidence adult Football in Sydney began to experience a growth in numbers at around this time and the return of veterans to the game via the expansion of the north shore O35’s competition. In time the club formed women's O35 teams and men's O45 teams. More recently we have formed a women's All Age side and expect to grow further.
So successful has the club been that StMFC now typically has around 25 junior and 10 adult teams, with 400-450 active players competing in the various NSFA competitions.
There has also been success on the field for the adult teams of StMFC - indeed NSFA confirmed that at the end of the 2020 season, our club had cumulatively won more O35 and O45 league titles than any other club.
The formula has been simple, train hard, play to enjoy the game and most importantly share a well earned drink with your mates after the game. Families in the area have also noticed a change, highlighted by a reduction in the average waist-size of their mums & dads and an increase in the knowledge of Football by a growing supporter base (wives/partners and children), who turnout to watch their heroes from time-to-time!
