The Sunbury Amateur Swimming Club Inc. (SASC) is based at the Sunbury Aquatic & Leisure Centre, located at 20 Ligar Street, Sunbury. The club was founded by the local community in the early 1960s and has since grown to become a thriving sports club in Hume City. The founding members played an integral role in the establishment and construction of the Olympic outdoor pool, and the club has maintained a close relationship with the pool management, local council, and councillors.

The club caters to both competitive and recreational swimmers, with members ranging from beginners to state and national level athletes. It offers a range of activities including social functions, swimming competitions, and professional coaching. Members have access to closed club training sessions and time trials, which contribute to their overall development and improvement as swimmers.

SASC has a history of success at state and national levels, with many swimmers achieving impressive results. The club also actively engages in interclub and inter-district competitions, providing opportunities for swimmers to test their skills against other clubs and districts.

The club operates year-round, utilising both the indoor and outdoor pools of the Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre. The outdoor pool is used seasonally, with exceptions during school holidays. Swimmers of all ages are welcome to join the club and enjoy the facilities and training programmes it offers.

SASC has its own club rooms, providing a dedicated space for members to gather and socialise. As a non-profit sporting club, it is open to the whole community and is committed to providing affordable and inclusive swimming opportunities. The club also welcomes business sponsorship, which helps to ensure stability, longevity, and subsidised activities for its members and the wider community.

Karen Garrard serves as the Head Swimming Coach of SASC, bringing over 30 years of experience in the aquatics industry. She holds a Bronze Level Swimming Coach qualification and has been associated with the club for more than 20 years. Karen is passionate about the continued development and success of the club, and she utilises her expertise to provide high-quality coaching to swimmers of all abilities.
