The Sunbury and District Dog Obedience Club (S. D. O. C) is a sports club located in Hume City, Victoria.
The club was established in 1985 by David Philips, who saw the need for a training facility in Sunbury for dogs. With the assistance of Peter Wood, a qualified instructor from the German Shepherd Dog Club Inc. , the club was formed.
From humble beginnings, the club started with 18 members who attended the first training session. Despite a lack of training facilities, the club persevered and began training on a vacant piece of land in Evans Street, which is now the location of Sunbury Shopping Square. An old wooden Scout Hall served as the clubroom during this time.
Currently, the Sunbury and District Obedience Dog Club trains at Boardman Reserve in Mitchells Lane, Sunbury. This location has been the training ground for the club for many years, providing a suitable and dedicated space for dog training activities.
For those interested in joining the club, new members are encouraged to get in touch via email or telephone for more information. The first class for new members is an Intro Theory class, where attendees are introduced to the club's training format. This class does not require the presence of the dog and serves as an informational session.
