Sunshine Coast Badminton Association

Welcome to the Sunshine Coast Badminton Association (SCBA)! Established in 1950, SCBA is a sports club based in Nambour, Queensland. Formerly known as the Nambour and District Badminton Association and the Maroochy Badminton Association, it was officially named the Sunshine Coast Badminton Association in 1968.

Badminton is a fun and easily accessible sport that caters to individuals of all ages and skill levels. SCBA is affiliated with the Queensland Badminton Association and boasts four affiliated badminton clubs located from Cooroy to Caboolture. These clubs warmly welcome new players to their social sessions, providing a friendly environment for beginners and experienced players alike.

SCBA is proud to offer a state-of-the-art facility featuring four courts with mats approved by the World Federation and LED lights. This purpose-built facility is among the best in Southeast Queensland, providing an inclusive space for community members to participate in badminton regardless of their age, gender, culture, or economic background.

The primary responsibility of SCBA is to promote the growth of badminton on the Sunshine Coast. This is achieved through the provision of both recreational and competitive badminton sessions, as well as hosting interclub team events between the associated clubs. SCBA also organises various sessions and events aimed at encouraging juniors and non-members of the community to engage with and embrace badminton as a sport.

Throughout the year, SCBA organises approximately six Closed Team Events, which have gained popularity among players and always welcome new participants. These events are exclusively open to players who are members of one of SCBA's four affiliated clubs.

The Sunshine Coast Badminton Centre is conveniently located at 98 Coronation Avenue, Nambour. Access to the venue is via the dirt driveway next to the bus stop, opposite Stanley Street. Nambour, situated 100 kilometres north of Brisbane, is easily accessible, with the Nambour train station a mere 15-minute walk away.
