Sunshine Coast Basketball Association was officially approved by Basketball Queensland on February 17, 2015. This is the result of years of consultation between the existing associations on the Sunshine Coast. The outcome is a federation of the Noosa Cyclones, the Suncoast Clippers and the Caloundra Heat under the new entity, the Sunshine Coast Basketball Association (SCBA).
