Swimmer. We enrolled him in Superfins WA's Learn to Swim programme, and it has been an incredible experience for him. The programme is specifically designed for school-aged children with disabilities, providing them with quality swimming lessons. The programme operates during school term time at the Lords Recreation Centre in Subiaco, offering lessons on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Additionally, they have a successful week-long holiday programme in either December or October.
In recognition of the support received from Telethon, the programme was renamed Telethon Superfins LTS in 2015. It became a Gold level AUSTSWIM Recognised Swim Centre in 2017. This recognition highlights the programme's commitment to providing excellent swim training for children with disabilities.
Superfins WA also offers two squads for swimmers with physical or intellectual/learning disabilities. The Stroke Development Squad focuses on improving technique, fitness, and learning new skills. It is suitable for swimmers who wish to progress towards competitive swimming. The Senior Squad is for competent swimmers who can perform various strokes and manage reasonable distances during sessions.
Both squads train at HBF Stadium in Mt Claremont, with specific training sessions throughout the week.
Aside from the swimming programmes, Superfins WA prides itself on creating a supportive and inclusive community. They host various social activities throughout the year, such as discos, quiz nights, movie nights, an annual awards dinner/dance, an annual Pantomime, and several annual camps. These events foster personal development and lifelong friendships among the members.
Superfins WA is proud to be supported by their Community Partner in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons. They value their affiliations and hold accreditations to ensure the highest standard of programmes and services.
