Surfers Paradise Triathlon Club (SPTC) is the longest established triathlon club on the Gold Coast, with a 20-year history that has stood the test of time. The club has earned a reputation for maintaining its integrity and dominance, consistently ranking among the top three clubs in the state.
Led by club coach Jenny Alcorn, who has been involved in the sport for over 25 years and has been a lifelong member of SPTC for 20 years, the club is recognised as one of Queensland's most reputable and highly recommended clubs. Jenny's passion for the sport is evident, and she takes pride in creating an atmosphere of harmony, support, challenges, and lifestyle changes that cater to all levels of triathlon.
Under Jenny's guidance, SPTC offers a full triathlon training programme with nine training sessions per week. These sessions are carefully designed to include all the critical training ingredients necessary to help members reach their goals. Jenny attends all training sessions and personally sets all the programmes. She is known for her approachability and works diligently with each member to help them achieve their individual dreams and goals.
With years of experience at the highest level of the sport, Jenny has a wealth of knowledge and has competed for Australia in international ITU races both at the elite and age group level.
SPTC's success and growth can be attributed to Jenny's commitment and dedication. When she took on the role of club coach in 1995, the club was struggling, but Jenny's passion and hard work revitalised it. She implemented changes such as new club colours, the iconic “SUPER MAN” logo, and attracted new members. Over the years, the club has flourished and continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the triathlon community.
