Welcome to Sydenham Tennis Club, a friendly and family-oriented sports club located in Sydenham, Melbourne. The club was officially opened in 1994 and has since become a popular destination for tennis enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels.
Sydenham Tennis Club consists of six synthetic courts, all equipped with lighting for night competitions, coaching sessions, and member usage throughout the year. The club prides itself on providing a welcoming and relaxed environment that encourages participation and enjoyment of the sport.
Membership at Sydenham Tennis Club currently stands at over 160 members, including juniors (under 17) and seniors (over 17), catering to players of all abilities and interests. The club actively participates in various competitions, including the North Suburban Tennis Association (NSTA), NSNTA (night), and NSJTA (junior) leagues.
Court usage at the club follows a first-come, first-play basis, and all members and court hirers are required to give way to competitions at all times. During peak periods, members are expected to limit their court time to one hour and share the court whenever possible.
Coaching services are available at Sydenham Tennis Club through the DHA Tennis Academy. For coaching queries, interested individuals can reach out to the academy at 0422 483 097.
The club operates from 7:30 am to 11:00 pm daily, allowing members and guests ample time to enjoy the facilities. Court hire is available for those interested in playing casually.
Sydenham Tennis Club also has a dedicated Committee of Management comprising volunteer members who are passionate about the future growth of the club. The committee members are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in July. All members are encouraged to attend the AGM, nominate for committee positions, and actively participate in shaping the club's future.
The current Committee of Management includes President Peter Wollbrandt, Vice President Leo Ibrahim, Secretary Stephen Cameron, Treasurer Steven Seinor, and General Committee Members Julie Cameron, Boris Hrvatin, Diane Profeta, Phil Profeta, and Sandy Wilsher.
Sydenham Tennis Club's long-term development plan includes the addition of two more courts to accommodate the growing membership. The club is hopeful that funding from the local council will be secured in the near future to start these proposed works.
