Training takes place each Wednesday from the first Wednesday in February to the last Wednesday in November inclusive, In MOST weathers, the only exceptions being if a CYCLONE is in the area, or in EXTREME weather conditions making it unsafe to train or use the roads!. Training will temporarily be halted if a thunderstorm is directly overhead but will be resumed when it passes, if time permits. Classes Commence at 7. 00pm with Registration of new members from 6.
30pm. New members will be enrolled on the 1st or 2nd Wednesday of each month ONLY as every week a new lesson is taught therefore joining later in the month would mean too much catchup!
Progression in training is by upgrading on the last Wednesday of each month, when the Chief Instructor will visit all classes and evaluate each member on his or her progress. Do not be distressed if you and your dog are not upgraded; it is far better to gain a solid grounding in basic obedience than to rush your dog through the course and have to sort out problems later. At the end of Class 4 each dog that passes will be given a CERTIFICATE OF BASIC OBEDIENCE.
However…. Training does not end after graduating from class four. Advanced training consists of Retrieving, Distance work, Rally Obedience, Agility, Off Lead work and much more!! We hold Competitions on weekends several times per year with competitors from all over Queensland competing.
Everybody is welcome to come along and see what you can achieve if you persist.
Each month a GOLDEN LEAD AWARD may given to the handler and dog deemed by the Chief Instructor to have shown the most outstanding progress in class, and as an encouragement to all members.
Committee members and Instructors are usually available before and after training to discuss any issues, or to receive constructive comments regarding the club/training/social events/trials – however the best place to discuss these matters is at our monthly meetings which are held on the third Wednesday of each month in our clubhouse after Training. All members are most welcome to attend and have a say.
