Eleven years and the Tathra Minor Rugby League Club is still going strong;in 2005 the club registered our highest number of players ever (Ninety Nine), this coupled with a number of grand final wins in recent years has made all the hard work in building the club into what it is today very satisfying as it takes many years of striving to field successful teams,it does not just happen over night. We also fielded an under 16's team for the first time in the clubs short history. However, success should not just be measured by on field successes, if you have any doubt about this just attend one of our mini training sessions or any Saturday games to see the mini players with boots in hand, huge grins on their faces and buckets of enthusiasm to realise that success can be measured in other ways. The mini teams are a very very important part of our club as they hold the key to the club's future.
The club also provides an excellent vehicle for families to interact socially in a family atmosphere. Over the years the Tathra club has produced many representative players, commencing in 1997 when we fielded our first international team (under 13's) to 2005 when the present crop numbered eighteen, again a huge achievement for a small club. In 2004, for the first time we had two players that had risen through the Tathra Minor League ranks play first grade for Tathra Senior League, Tui Eruera and Stephen Marshall. We hope they will be just the start, as with our present under 15's and 16's numbers there will be a huge need in the very near future for rugby league seniors again in Tathra.
All this points to a very bright future for the club, all you need to do is pick up the ball and run with it!
