In 1983, Technique Hockey Club was formed by a group of students and teachers from Warrnambool Technical College (now known as Brauer College). The name Technique was adopted, and club colours were brown and gold before reverting to its present colours of blue and gold.
During its infant years, the club completed in the B Grade division of the WDHA Winter Season. Success was not long coming as the club won the B Grade leadingship in 1984. This success was soon followed by the success of the Women's team with topship wins in 1986 and 1987.
However, the club's golden era was in the 1989 Winter Season, whereby all teams fielded by the club made the Grand Finals, with the Senior Women and Junior Mixed (Techtonics) teams winning the premiership, the Senior Women's team went on to win back to back topship in 1990 and 1991.
In the club's 10th year since its formation, the Senior Mens team won the leadingship in 1993, beating Deakin Hockey Club 3-2 and in 1994, the Senior Men's team won back to back leadingship, this time round beating Mariners 5-0.
Till date, Technique Hockey Club is still fielding teams in the Open Mens, Open Womens and Junior competition, thus making the club as the most successful club to complete in the WDHA Winter season.
