Traditional Taekwondo is a non-competitive martial arts school which teaches the tradtional art of taekwondo. The word taekwondo can be loosely translated as “the way of the hand and foot”. It was established in South Korea in the 1950s and was originally taught to young men in the military to develop speed, strength, and survival skills. As the name suggests, taekwondo is an unarmed combat style which incorporates techniques involving the use of the hands and feet.
These techniques include punching, open hand strikes, blocking, jumping/stationary kicks, and side stepping, which are practised in sparring and executed in the form of patterns.
Traditional Taekwondo runs combined classes for adults and teens (ages 15+) at our Wanneroo training centre. Traditional Taekwondo classes are practical and are aimed to provide you with the basic skills of self-defence. With perseverance and practise, you will learn to combine the elements of speed, strength, and technique to advance on these skills. Taekwondo is great for keeping fit both mentally and physically.
It will help you to develop in areas of physical strength, balance, speed, coordination, flexibility and stamina, and as such, will also help you to develop self-confidence and self-discipline.
At traditional taekwondo we abide by the five tenets of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and courageous spirit. Whilst we are a friendly club, we also promote discipline and respect. Unlike many other schools there is no locked in contract. A monthly fee covers grading, belts and unlimited lessons to both training centres for the month.
If you would like a free trial lesson, please feel free to contact us. Alternatively you can come and see us in one of our classes at the dedicated times.
