About
This is the land of the Anaiwan People and “Uralla” means ceremonial meeting place.
Uralla is right on the highway and is situated 501 km north of Sydney on the New England Highway and 485 km south of Brisbane on the Cunningham/New England Highway. One may arrive in this extraordinary town and not want to leave, or not leave the same way they came. With Armidale airport just 22 km to the north and a helicopter at your service, it's not hard to do it in style.
Uralla is a classic Australian country village with fabulous fresh and hearty dining, bakeries and cafés, to tempt and satisfy the hungry traveller. For the enquiring visitor, there is an antiquarian bookshop, galleries, and boutique wool fashion to while away a relaxing day in town. Step into adventure and take the kids (or your good self) fossicking for gold, or a gem or two, or take a scenic drive to one of our amazing attractions, such as, Thunderbolt's grave, Gostwyck Chapel or Dangar's Falls.
Discover our lovely surrounding villages where you will most certainly find charm; Kentucky, Invergowrie, Kingstown and Bundarra boast natural attractions, heritage, en route cool climate wineries, B&B's, riverside camping and with so much to discover, a sense of having really been somewhere. New England cool climate wine cellar doors are in almost any direction. You will be surprised by what you find in Uralla.
