The Veterans Motorcycle Club is a sports club based in Sydney, Australia. Founded in late 1989, the club was created by Vietnam Veterans who also shared a passion for motorcycling. These veterans, who had experienced trauma and alienation upon returning to society, found solace and trust in each other, forming a close-knit brotherhood. Inspired by the film 'Stone,' which depicted Vietnam Veterans turning away from society, the club adopted the Skull and Slouch hat as their official colours, given to them by Sandy Harbutt, the principal of the film.
The Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club became a pioneer for the Vietnam Veterans' movement.
As the club grew rapidly, the New South Wales Chapter decided to create separate chapters to better manage its size. In 2000, the Sydney Chapter was established to cater to the needs of members in and around the Sydney area. In September 2013, the chapter underwent a name change from Vietnam Veterans MC to Veterans MC, to include younger veterans who were seeking the same sense of belonging and purpose as the Vietnam Veterans.
The Sydney Chapter of Veterans MC is based in Menai, with members spread throughout the central coast, south coast, Orange, and Goulburn areas. The majority of the club's members are army veterans, with some navy and RAAF personnel. The club values the camaraderie and bond formed through mutual service and experiences, and they enjoy a strong reputation within the biker community and the wider public.
With a solid presence in the biker community, the Veterans MC has carved its own niche in the world, finding comfort in their unique brotherhood. They are well-respected wherever they go, and their motto, “The Road Goes On Forever And The Party Never Ends! ” embodies their spirit of adventure and celebration in life.
