The West Australian Junior Motocross Club Incorporated, also known as West Australian Junior MC, is a well-established sports club located in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1972 as the W. A Mini Bike Club and has since evolved into a thriving motocross club with a rich history and reputation.
The club's early years saw the members making use of various tracks around the Perth region, including Forrestdale, Helena Valley, and Chidlow. After facing some challenges with venue availability, the club eventually secured a new home in Orange Grove, where they established a track that became popular for state rounds and showcased modern facilities.
In the early 1980s, the club negotiated the use of land in Chidlow, previously utilised by the Eastern Hills Motorcycling Club. The relocation of equipment from Orange Grove to Chidlow marked the beginning of a new chapter for the West Australian Junior MC. On August 21, 1983, the first meeting was held at the Chidlow track, and the track was officially opened by the Minister of Sport and Recreation, the Hon. K.
J Wilson.
Over the years, the hard work and dedication of parents and committee members have transformed the Chidlow facility into one of the finest motocross circuits in the region. The track has supported the development of talented riders, including Bryan Starring and Shaun Redhead, who have achieved success at higher levels of motocross. The club prides itself on not only fostering rider talent but also nurturing family bonds and instilling discipline and sportsmanship in its young members.
In 2012, the West Australian Junior MC celebrated its 40th anniversary, followed by its 45th anniversary in 2017. In 2022, the club will proudly commemorate its 50th anniversary, highlighting its longstanding commitment to the sport and the community.
The club is governed by a dedicated committee consisting of President Stuart Anderson, Vice President Paul Tomerini, Secretary Sally Johnson, Treasurer Mark Wilson, and various other officers responsible for different aspects of club operations such as race organisation, publicity, and safety.
The West Australian Junior MC offers membership to motocross enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Members can participate in club events and competitions, access exclusive merchandise, and enjoy the camaraderie of a passionate motocross community. The club also provides downloads, such as event registration forms and race schedules, on their website for easy access.
With its rich history, exceptional track facilities, and commitment to the sport, the West Australian Junior MC is a leading motocross club in Perth. Whether you're a rider, a parent, or a motocross enthusiast, the club welcomes you to join their vibrant community and enjoy the thrill of motocross in a safe and supportive environment.
