The Western Australia Figure Skating Club (WAFSC) is a sports club located in Perth, Western Australia. As the only Champ Series event to be held in Western Australia, the club has established itself as a leading figure skating organisation in the region.
The club's main objectives are to guide, promote, and further the sport of figure skating, while fostering a spirit of friendship and fair play among its participants. Additionally, the WAFSC aims to encourage all figure skating members to actively contribute to the club's operations and development.
The WAFSC offers various membership options, including Athletes membership (Junior/Senior) and Supporters membership. Memberships are valid for a year and expire on December 31st, regardless of the purchase date. It's important to note that Supporter and Junior Athlete members do not have voting rights within the club. Late fees apply for Athlete memberships paid after May 1st, 2023.
The club is managed by a dedicated committee, headed by Clarence Ong as the President and Alana Davis as the Vice President. Other committee members include Maree Scaturo as the Secretary, Shelly Adamlu as the Treasurer, and Tracey Adams and Leanne Martin as Councillors. The club also has subcommittee members responsible for areas such as Athlete Development, Competitions, Funding, and Merchandise, with vacant positions currently available.
In terms of policies and constitution, the WAFSC follows a set of guidelines to ensure proper governance and operation of the club. These include the WAFSC Constitution, Club Policies, Funding Policy, Anti-Doping Policy, Social Media Policy, Code of Ethics, Privacy Policy, Risk Management Policy, and Competition Refunds & Late Entries Policy.
The WAFSC is committed to providing its members with not only top-level training and competition opportunities but also a range of social activities, fundraising events, and experiences. The club actively seeks funding and sponsorship opportunities to support the development and growth of figure skating in Western Australia.
For those seeking additional training and support, the WAFSC has partnered with Rebekah Dixon to offer a mental health training programme. The programme, tailored for both coaches and parents/guardians, aims to enhance the overall well-being and performance of athletes. The sessions are held on Thursday evenings in August, with limited spots available.
To stay updated on the latest news and events, individuals can register for membership, renew existing memberships, and access upcoming event details through the WAFSC website. The club also encourages community participation and welcomes new members to join and be part of the vibrant figure skating community in Western Australia.
