About

Williamstown Swimming & Life Saving Club (WSLSC) is a prominent sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. The club has been actively involved in the development of the Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club facility, working closely with the WSLSC Development Advisory Committee, Hobsons Bay City Council, the Victorian State Government, and Life Saving Victoria (LSV).

The primary objective of the club is to provide a safe and supportive environment for swimming and life-saving activities. The club recently received a generous funding commitment of $11. 3 million from the State Government towards the redevelopment of its facility. The council has also pledged $3 million for the project, demonstrating the community's support for the club.

Originally, the conceptual plans for the redevelopment included the construction of a new swimming pool on-site. However, due to the increase in costs of construction materials and services, it is not feasible to include a new pool within the available budget. Despite this setback, the club aims to deliver the core life-saving requirements and meet the community's needs through the planned upgrades.

One exciting addition to the redevelopment plans is the incorporation of a steam room for member use. This will particularly benefit the club's growing open water swimming contingent, providing a relaxing and rejuvenating space for them.

To ensure transparency and gather public feedback, the concept plans were approved at a council meeting and will be available for an eight-week public exhibition period starting from October 14th to December 10th, 2023. Members and the wider community are encouraged to review the plans and provide their valuable feedback through the online feedback portal provided by Hobsons Bay called Participate.

In addition to the online feedback portal, Council is hosting three drop-in sessions where individuals can discuss the plans and provide feedback in person. These sessions will be held on October 21st, November 12th (during the Roberson Reserve Farmers Market), and November 12th (adjacent to Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club). These sessions present a great opportunity for stakeholders to engage directly with the redevelopment plans.

Concurrently, the Council also has concept plans for upgrades to open space areas along the Williamstown Foreshore Precinct and a Rifle Range Planting Plan on public exhibition. This presents an excellent opportunity for community members to participate in the planning process and provide feedback on all three projects.

WSLSC encourages all members and community members to actively engage in the public exhibition period and provide their valuable feedback. The club values the input of its stakeholders and aims to deliver a renovated facility that meets the community's needs for many years to come.

For more information about the club, its activities, and how to get involved, individuals can visit the WSLSC website, subscribe to the newsletters, and access the annual report. The club also provides resources and information regarding COVID-19 from Life Saving Victoria to ensure the safety of its members and the wider community.

Join Williamstown Swimming & Life Saving Club and be part of a vibrant and supportive community dedicated to swimming, life-saving, and community engagement.
