Women Walk The Talk is a sports club located in Adelaide, Australia. Led by the enthusiastic walk organiser, Elaine, the club meets every Thursday at 9:30 am for a weekly walk of medium pace, lasting between 45 to 60 minutes. With a current membership of 53 women, Women Walk The Talk welcomes individuals of all fitness levels who are looking to improve their health and connect with others in the community.
The group's meeting point is outside the Broadway Kiosk Café, near the iconic dolphin statue in Glenelg. It should be noted that walks do not take place during school holidays. The walking route takes participants along Broadway and South Esplanade, offering scenic views and a pleasant atmosphere.
Women Walk The Talk prides itself on being dog-friendly and pram/wheelchair-friendly, ensuring that everyone can participate and enjoy the benefits of walking. The club encourages individuals to bring their furry friends or little ones in prams or wheelchairs so that nobody is left out.
The sports club is supported by the National Heart Foundation of Australia and aligns with their mission to promote a healthier heart. Walking has been proven to reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes by 30 to 40 percent. Additionally, regular walking helps manage weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol, reduces the risk of certain cancers, and improves bone density, balance, and coordination.
Women Walk The Talk also offers Personal Walking Plans, designed to help individuals achieve their health goals in just six weeks. These plans are tailored to each person's needs, ultimately leading to a healthier and happier lifestyle.
