Yoga Arts Academy is a sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. With a focus on the Ghatastha Yoga Method, the academy offers a progressive system of yoga techniques designed to cultivate students from raw beginners to advanced practitioners. The Ghatastha Yoga Method incorporates different asanas (yoga poses) arranged in a way that promotes blood circulation to the brain and various parts of the spinal column. These asanas stretch, bend, and twist the spinal column in all possible directions, promoting the health of the nerves extending from the vertebrae to the internal organs, limbs, and extremities.
At Yoga Arts Academy, the emphasis is on providing traditional Personal Tuition in The Ghatastha Yoga Method to achieve the highest possible level for students. The academy aims to increase understanding of the practise and theory of The Ghatastha Yoga Method.
Personal Tuition is available on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and bookings can be made by contacting Duncan at 0408 078 564. The academy also offers open classes with Catherine Fisher on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. These classes provide an opportunity for individuals to explore and experience the benefits of The Ghatastha Yoga Method.
The Ghatastha Yoga Method is derived from the Gheranda Samhita, a classic text written by Sage Gheranda in the late 17th century. It describes a 7-part system designed to transform practitioners through purification of the body to the highest states of Samadhi (meditative absorption) and knowledge of the soul. The method focuses on transforming the subtle essences of the body and developing greater conductivity of Prana, the vital energy.
The Ghatastha Yoga Method is a holistic approach to fitness and wellbeing, combining ancient principles of health and fitness developed by Yogis and Martial Artists in ancient India. The practise includes flowing combinations of stances and standing poses, isometric yoga poses, stability training, and core strengthening. It aims to provide conscious exercise for health, longevity, fitness, and ultimate freedom in the body and mind.
