Aberystwyth University Boathouse

Aberystwyth University Boathouse, nestled in Aberystwyth, is a vibrant rowing and sports hub welcoming both students and non-students. Organised by Alex, the club is all about rowing and creating a friendly social scene, open to everyone regardless of experience or background.

On the water, Alex ensures members have access to Fireflies and Laser 2s for sailing sessions, held whenever the weather is good. The club provides wetsuits and buoyancy aids for use. Whether you're looking to relax or train for races, there's something for all skill levels. Plus, the unique view of Aberystwyth from the water is something special.

Throughout the year, Alex and the crew participate in events like the Swansea Spartan, Welsh Dragon, and the popular Varsity against Bangor Uni. These aren't just great for racing but also for socialising with sailors from other universities across the UK.

Off the water, every Wednesday, Alex organises socials where members can enjoy themed or casual get-togethers. It's a great way to relax and get to know the town. On Thursdays, theory sessions at the boathouse offer a laid-back environment to learn more about sailing and connect with fellow members.

Exciting trips and competitions are a big part of the club's calendar. The bi-annual trip to Bala in Snowdonia National Park is a highlight, with camping, sailing on Wales' largest lake, pub visits, and cosy barbecues. Alex also arranges yacht sailing trips, providing a thrilling experience.

Sustainability is a priority for Alex and the club. They actively participate in the Green Blue University Sailing Challenge, promoting eco-friendly practices in the sport.
