Who knows, Abingdon Dolphins' courses could even be the first step towards competitive swimming and Olympic glory for some aspiring swimmers!
Abingdon Dolphins operates on a termly basis, with each term lasting 10 weeks and three terms per year. Regular reports are provided to parents, detailing their child's progress, any badges awarded, and information and advice about the next steps in their swimming journey. Fees are paid on a termly basis and classes are held at various locations.
Apart from swimming lessons, Abingdon Dolphins also offers diving lessons. These take place on Sunday mornings at Radley College Sports Centre and cater to both beginners and improvers. Classes progress from poolside work in the diving pit to board work. It is important for participants to be competent swimmers and have confidence in deep water.
Abingdon Dolphins also offers life-saving courses, including the Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards for ages 12 and above. These classes closely follow the RLSS 'Survive and Save' syllabus and successful candidates receive certificates issued by Abingdon Dolphins. The courses are also valid for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Additionally, the Rookie Lifeguard programme is available for children aged 8 to 11, teaching them essential water safety and swimming skills in both shallow and deeper water.
This programme runs parallel to their regular swimming lessons and enhances their overall aquatic abilities.
