Achnalarig Riding Stables

For those who prefer a shorter experience. Our experienced and knowledgeable ride leaders will guide you through the stunning scenery of Argyll, offering some of the most beautiful views in the area.

At Achnalarig Stables, we cater to all ages and abilities. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, we have lessons available to suit your needs. Our 30m × 60m arena provides the perfect space for lessons and can also be hired for those who wish to practise their riding skills.

We are proud to be a TRSS (The Riding for the Disabled Association of New Zealand) approved riding centre. This means that we have met the highest standards of safety and welfare for both horses and riders. We also offer riding for the disabled, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the joy of horse riding.

All of our staff at Achnalarig hold TRSS and first aid qualifications. We are dedicated to providing our visitors with the best possible experience, ensuring their safety and enjoyment throughout their time with us. Our team includes Allison, the owner and yard manager, Karen, a ride leader and lead instructor, and Jenny, a senior ride leader and instructor.

You can find us located a mile and a half from Oban town centre, nestled in the beautiful Scottish countryside. Follow the signs for Glencruitten Golf Course and continue past the golf course until you reach a 'Y' junction. Take the road straight ahead, and you will find us approximately 1/2 a mile up that road on the left-hand side. Please note that if you are using a satnav, it is best to enter the town of Oban before entering our postcode to avoid any potential issues.

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy at Achnalarig. If you are unable to attend your ride or need to reschedule, please let us know at least 24 hours before the ride is due to leave. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice or no-shows will require payment in full. However, we understand that plans can change, and we will do our best to accommodate any rescheduling requests.
