Originating in the United States, Action Pistol was established with the National Rifle Association (NRA) as its governing body. The match competitions, previously known as the 'NRA 1920 Match', were named after the highest possible score of 1920 points. These exhilarating competitions drew inspiration from shooting contests held by law enforcement agencies in the US.
SSPC ACT, a pioneering club in Australia, has been actively involved in Action Pistol from the start. Our dedicated members have gone on to represent our club in various competitions held at the state, national, and even international levels.
Action Pistol match competitions consist of four thrilling courses: Barricade, Practical, Modified Mover, and Falling Plates. Each course demands a unique set of skills, ensuring that participants are constantly challenged and on the edge of their seats. In Action Pistol, there are four divisions to compete in: Open, Metallic Sight, Production Optics, and Production. Shooters have the freedom to use centrefire and rimfire pistols, including revolvers and semi-automatics, in any division they choose.
For passionate marksman, the CMP Bianchi Cup stands as the ultimate event in Action Pistol. This prestigious championship, formerly known as the NRA Bianchi Cup, has been running since 1979, making it the world's second-longest-running pistol championship. Held annually in May at the Green Valley Rifle and Pistol Club in Missouri, United States, the Bianchi Cup has become the pinnacle of achievement for Action Pistol competitors.
