About
Key aspect of AGKK Karate.
AGKK follows the Goju Ryu style of Karate, which is a traditional martial art originating from Okinawa, Japan. The philosophy of Goju Ryu Karate emphasises the integration of hard and soft techniques, incorporating powerful strikes, joint locks, and throws, as well as controlled breathing and meditation.
AGKK offers a range of classes and lessons tailored to different age groups and skill levels. Beginners are warmly welcomed, and children as young as 4 years old can start their Karate journey. The training focuses on building important life skills in children, such as confidence, discipline, respect, and positive behaviour. They will also learn valuable self-defence techniques to ensure their safety in any situation.
For adults, AGKK Karate provides a fantastic opportunity to improve fitness, flexibility, coordination, strength, stamina, and overall well-being. The martial art classes are designed to cater to individuals of all fitness levels and abilities, allowing everyone to train at their own pace and progress at a comfortable rate. The positive and supportive training environment ensures that each student feels motivated and encouraged on their journey towards self-improvement.
Families are also encouraged to train together at AGKK. This provides a unique bonding experience and promotes healthy physical activity for the whole family. AGKK Karate is not just about teaching self-defence, but also about fostering strong family values and creating lasting memories.
AGKK has multiple dojos (training centres) located throughout Brisbane, including Taigum, Albany Creek, Bracken Ridge, and Northgate. The main headquarters, or Honbu, is located at Taigum State School. AGKK also offers virtual classes and private lessons for individuals who prefer personalised training.
In addition to Karate classes, AGKK provides a variety of other programmes and services. Meditation classes are offered for schools, athletes, sporting teams, and corporate entities. Self-defence training is available for women, men, children, and specific professions such as healthcare workers and law enforcement personnel. AGKK also offers de-escalation training and workshops for businesses and organisations, promoting a safer workplace environment.
AGKK takes pride in providing top-quality martial arts instruction, with experienced and dedicated instructors who are passionate about helping students achieve their goals. Whether it is improving fitness, self-confidence, discipline, or self-defence skills, AGKK aims to provide a positive and enriching experience for all students.
