They specialise in offering Aikido training in the Aikido Goshinkai style and welcome visitors of all styles to come and train with them. Whether you are a beginner or experienced practitioner, Aikido Community provides a welcoming environment for everyone.
The philosophy of Aikido lies in its meaning, which is “The Path of Harmonising Life's Energy”. This martial art form, known as “The Art of Peace”, was founded by Master Morihei Ueshiba with the intention of returning all situations to a state of harmony. Aikido is now widely used in conflict resolution around the world.
Visitors are encouraged to either watch or join in the Aikido training sessions at Aikido Community. The training schedule is regularly updated on their club calendar, which indicates the times and locations of each class. The Dojo is conveniently located at the South Tweed Sports Club, making it easily accessible for all.
Aikido is suitable for individuals of all ages, as high levels of strength and fitness are not necessary for self-protection. It is a martial art that emphasises technique, body movement, and redirection of an attacker's energy. Aikido Community believes that these principles can be applied to all aspects of life, both on and off the mat.
The founder of Aikido, Master Ueshiba, dedicated his life to promoting peace and harmony. Known as O-sensei, which means “Great Teacher”, he believed that violence and aggression could be turned aside through harmony of spirit. O-sensei studied various martial arts forms before developing Aikido, and his teachings emphasised the importance of reconciliation, cooperation, and empathy in overcoming challenges.
Aikido Community provides a platform for individuals to learn and practise the teachings of O-sensei. Through Aikido training, practitioners can cultivate fearlessness, wisdom, love, and friendship. The lessons learned on the mat can be applied to personal relationships, business endeavours, and interactions with nature.
Aikido Community invites individuals from all walks of life to join their community and experience the benefits of Aikido training. They strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals to learn and grow. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced martial artist, Aikido Community welcomes you to explore the path of harmonising life's energy through the practise of Aikido.
