Aikido Northampton is the longest running Aikido club in Northampton, offering training in the martial art of Aikido. Aikido is a highly effective form of self-defence that focuses on control and restraint techniques, rather than strikes or kicks. These techniques are not only useful for personal self-defence, but also form the basis of training for professions such as the Police and Nursing.
The club prides itself on being a friendly and welcoming group, open to practitioners of any grade, style, or association. Aikido Northampton believes in the value of sharing and enjoying Aikido together. Training sessions take place at Berrywood Hospital in the Duston area of Northampton.
The Senior Instructor at Aikido Northampton is Aubrey Smith, who has an impressive 48 years of practise in Aikido. Regular instruction is also provided by Steve Copson and Cathy Knight, both holding 4th and 3rd Dan rankings respectively. The club is affiliated with the Yama Arashi UK Association and is a member of the British Aikido Board (BAB).
