Gozo Shioda Sensei formed the Yoshinkan style of Aikido, creating a structured method for students to learn the foundation techniques. With the Yoshinkan style, Aikido students can expect a consistent and systematic training process.

Joe Thambu Shihan, the Chief Instructor at Aikido Shoshinkan, has been a student of Aikido for over 40 years. He brings his extensive knowledge and experience to the dojo, ensuring that students receive top-notch instruction.

Inoue Kyoichi Kancho, the director of the organisation, is the only living 10th Dan Yoshinkan instructor. With over 60 years of Aikido knowledge, Inoue Sensei is a highly sought-after instructor who travels the world teaching in different dojos.

The Aikido Shoshinkan was founded in May 2005 by Andy Hobday Sensei, with the aim of providing an open and positive environment for individuals to enjoy practising martial arts and self-defence. Since its establishment, the Aikido Shoshinkan has become a trusted and respected institution in Nottingham and Derby.
