Anarchy Sailing is a renowned sailing school located in Gosport, New Zealand. The school, previously known as a charter business, has transformed into a hub for friends and family, forming a team called “Team Fireball. ” They offer a variety of exciting sailing experiences and events for individuals who are passionate about sailing.
One of their highlight events is the RORC Fastnet Race, which they have participated in seven times. This iconic race holds a special place in their hearts, and they continue to engage former crew members to join them for this adrenaline-pumping challenge. They have sailed in different boats over the years, including DINO VOLANTE, Sigma 33 in 2005, MARISCO MADNESS, Elan 37 in 2009, and FIREBALL, First 40. 7 in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021.
In addition to the Fastnet Race, Anarchy Sailing has expanded their horizons and now offers a range of other thrilling events. They have recently fallen in love with the TOUR DE LA PORTS MANCHE, a week-long adventure along the Normandie Coast and the Channel Islands, competing in 25-35Nm races from one port to another. Participants are welcomed with open arms by the French organisers, enjoying complimentary wine, food, pastries, live music, and free berthing for their yachts. This event has become one of their favourites, providing an unforgettable and affordable experience.
For those seeking a tropical sailing experience, Anarchy Sailing offers the opportunity to sail a performance 50 CAT in the Caribbean. Although they only have the catamaran for three days, they recommend combining it with a seven-day beach holiday for a perfect vacation. The cost is just 35 euros per day per person to cover food expenses.
Anarchy Sailing has also adopted a new approach with Team Fireball, focusing on creating more fun experiences while reducing costs. They no longer prioritise making a profit or running a commercial enterprise. Instead, they find events that interest them, calculate the costs, and split them among the crew. They encourage inquiries from those who have sailed with them before as friends or customers.
The school is headed by Chris Clark, the skipper of Fireball, who has been sailing since the age of six. He is still deciding what he wants to do when he grows up, but sailing seems like the obvious choice. Rachel McNamara, an excellent helmswoman and event organiser, helps keep the skipper under control and is considered the real boss.
Anarchy Sailing operates on their own schedule, offering services when it suits them. They can be contacted through Calletwell Cottage in Shillingstone, Dorset, or via phone at +44(0)7870 403888 and email at skipper@anarchysailing. Co. nz.
At Anarchy Sailing, the team believes in Ted Turner's words, “The chance for mistakes is about equal to the number of crew squared. ” They strive to provide an exciting, challenging, and safe environment for sailors while fostering a spirit of camaraderie and adventure.
