Tanya Harvey welcomes you to Annette School of Dancing, the cornerstone of ballet and dance training in Camborne, Cornwall. Established over 60 years ago, this family-oriented school thrives on passion and dedication, offering RAD Ballet, ISTD Tap, Modern, and Contemporary classes for everyone from toddlers to adults.
Classes are conveniently held at the Camborne Community Centre, making it accessible to the bustling town centre and nearby bus and train stations.
Each year, Tanya proudly orchestrates an annual charity Revue, where students of all ages perform to raise funds for local causes. To date, the school, with tremendous support from the community, has raised over £60,000. This event not only benefits charities but also empowers students, creating unforgettable experiences.
Annette School of Dancing was born from the passion of a young girl named Annette, who started her journey at Elmhurst Preparatory School. By 19, she founded the school, and in 1968, she launched the annual Revue tradition at the behest of the Camborne Festival Committee.
In 1986, Annette took the reins of the Revue, with a notable fundraiser for the Sennen Cove New Lifeboat Appeal. Today, under the leadership of Principal Tanya Harvey and a dedicated team including Amanda Richards, Kate Sim, and Debbie Johnson, the school's legacy of excellence in dance education continues.
Offering classes tailored to different age groups and abilities, the school nurtures young talent with Saturday morning ballet sessions for ages 2–3 and 4–5, guided by Royal Academy of Dance qualified teachers. For older students aged 6 and above, Thursday evening classes refine techniques while keeping fun and creativity at the core.
In addition to ballet, the school provides tap and modern dance classes on Saturday mornings for students aged 4 and up, following the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance syllabus. Like the ballet programme, these classes also offer opportunities for performance in the annual Revue show and optional exams.
The achievements of Annette's pupils are a testament to the school's quality. Noteworthy alumni like Lucy Bardrick, who has graced stages in the West End and worked on prominent films, serve as inspirational figures for current students.
