The Annual Trophies and Awards event is a highlight on the calendar for Learners Swim School, a popular swimming club in Northfield. This exciting event takes place every October and is open to all members of the Tea Tree Gully Squad Swimming Program. It's a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate the hard work and achievements of our dedicated swimmers throughout the season.
During the evening, a range of awards and trophies are presented, each with its own significance. One of the prestigious accolades is the Barrie Scott Trophy, which is awarded to the most conscientious senior member. This coveted title is given to the individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication, earning points for every attendance and participation.
Another set of accolades, known as the Coaches Awards, are bestowed upon outstanding swimmers in each squad who have consistently achieved at a high level throughout the season. These awards recognise and celebrate the remarkable performance and unwavering dedication of our talented swimmers.
We also have the highly coveted Penny Bristow Trophy, which is awarded to the swimmer who has broken the most club records during the current swimming year. This prestigious award highlights exceptional achievement and skill within our swim club, showcasing the incredible talent and hard work of the recipient.
Our Management Committee, in consultation with our esteemed coaching team, decides the recipient of the Swimmer of the Year award. This esteemed accolade goes to the competitive swimmer who has achieved at the highest level overall. It reflects the swimmer's consistent excellence and success throughout the season, truly distinguishing them as an exemplary athlete.
In addition to these unbelievable awards, we also celebrate and acknowledge swimmers who have shown the most improvement in their performances over the season. This improvement is calculated based on the percentage difference between their fastest time swum in the current season and their previous season's fastest time. It's an amazing opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication that our swimmers put into improving their skills and abilities.
Swimmers are eligible for improvement trophies if they have achieved improvement in any event sanctioned by Swimming SA or a TTG club event, including time trials. Of course, they must meet certain conditions to be eligible for these coveted awards.
