Rhythmic gymnastics combines dance and gymnastics. It builds basic gymnastics skills and fine motor skills using hand-held equipment such as hoop, rope, ball, clubs and ribbon.
Yes. The club supports children who are new to the sport, and it is not too late to start. A dance background and the ability to do splits are advantageous.
There are recreation classes and a competitive gymnastics pathway. Competitive is by invitation only, while recreation works towards badges and participates in club competition and an end-of-year show.
For recreation classes, rhythmic gymnastics apparatus is provided. For competitive gymnasts, the coaching staff will advise what equipment is required for their level.
Wear tight fitting clothes such as a fitted T-shirt or leotard with bike shorts or leggings. Socks can be worn, hair should be tied neatly, and bring a water bottle. Equipment is provided.
Coaches are fully accredited with Gymnastics NZ. The team includes experienced rhythmic gymnastics coaches and a judge with FIG involvement.

A free trial and assessment are available, and the club asks you to contact them to arrange a trial time.
