Assam Mountaineering Association

The Assam Mountaineering Association (AMA), established in 1968, stands as the premier organization dedicated to promoting mountaineering and allied sports in the North Eastern Region of India. Over the past 45 years, AMA has achieved remarkable milestones, including the successful ascents of 21 major Himalayan peaks. These achievements highlight the association's commitment to fostering a spirit of adventure, teamwork, and resilience among young enthusiasts.

AMA's legacy includes the historic expeditions to Bethartoli in 1970 and Chouklamba-I in 1983, among others. Additionally, AMA has paved the way for civilian expeditions, such as the first civilian ascent of Gorichen-II in Arunachal Himalaya. Every November, AMA hosts a local rock climbing course that spans 5-8 Sundays, providing participants with essential skills and techniques. The annual children’s adventure camps further cultivate an early love for nature and outdoor activities among the youth.
