About

Astbury Golf Club, located in Congleton, is a picturesque and challenging parkland course set amidst the stunning South Cheshire countryside. Established in 1922, the club has a rich history and has recently been voted the 19th best course in Cheshire.

The course at Astbury Golf Club features sweeping tree-lined fairways and is unique in that it is divided by the historic Macclesfield canal. Players will appreciate the easy walkability of the course, as well as the stunning scenery that surrounds them.

Astbury Golf Club takes great pride in its facilities and is constantly evolving to meet the expectations of its members and visitors. In 2023/2024, the club will focus on improving the clubhouse and facilities to further enhance the overall experience.

The club offers a busy competition and social golf programme, with each playing section organising competitions and fun events. The highlight of these events is Finals Day, where players compete for glory and enjoy the camaraderie of the golfing community.

In celebration of its centenary year in 2022, Astbury Golf Club ran a centenary fund, which received voluntary donations from its members, totalling an impressive close to 50,000. This fund has been used to complete various improvement projects, including the redesign of the 1st tee area and the enhancement of the 18th Tee walkoff. Members and visitors have been delighted with the results.

Astbury Golf Club prides itself on its top-quality parkland golf. The club has invested significantly in the best machinery, materials, and greens staff to ensure the course is in prime condition. Over the years, the club has redesigned and reconstructed bunkers, created new paths, tees, and improved course drainage. As a result, the greens have never been better, and the positive feedback from visitors and the increased membership highlight the success of these investments.

The layout of the course at Astbury Golf Club is superb. The signature hole is the 12th, a challenging par 5 that requires a long carry over a ravine from the tee. Other notable holes include the par 5 3rd and the double dogleg 18th. Water comes into play on seven holes, providing an additional challenge for players.

The course is an enjoyable walk, with a few slopes in the terrain to test the skills of golfers.

Astbury Golf Club invites both visitors and locals to experience their top-quality parkland course and welcomes players of all skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned golfer or new to the game, the club's friendly and welcoming atmosphere, combined with the picturesque setting, ensures a memorable golfing experience.
