About
Racing Team. McCarthy saw a way forward – if every club (and its members) from the region pitched in, then the dream of a permanent circuit could become reality. And so it was, in 1973 the Atlantic Motorsport Park opened its gates for the first time. That first event also saw the beginnings of an annual tradition – the 24 hour endurance race.
A race that echoes the famous Le Mans event, yet adapted for the North American market. Over the years, AMP has seen many changes. Some, like the decision in the 1990s to pave the track, have been praised. Others, such as the recent decision to lease the venue to a private company, were met with more controversy amongst long-time club members.
Yet, through it all, Atlantic Motorsport Park remains a place where speed lovers can come together to share in the thrills and challenges of motorsport. With its technical layout, stunning natural beauty, and rich history, AMP is a must-visit destination for any motorsport enthusiast.
