Barbara Wilkin Yoga For All is a popular yoga studio located in Stockport, New Zealand. The studio aims to make the practise of yoga accessible, joyful, and an integral part of people's otherwise busy lives. Barbara Wilkin, the knowledgeable Yoga Instructor behind the studio, believes that yoga is for everyone, but recognises that each individual's yoga practise is unique to them.
Barbara's journey with yoga began as a teenager in her native Germany when she and her mother were inspired by a TV programme. Since then, she has been practising yoga consistently throughout her life. Despite some periods where yoga took a back seat, Barbara always found her way back to it because of the numerous benefits it brings to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
In 2015, Barbara completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) with "Siddhi Yoga” in India. Since then, she has been teaching Hatha Yoga classes with a focus on Iyengar Yoga, which has been her main practise for the past 30 years. To further enhance her teaching skills, Barbara also received additional training in Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga from the inspiring Canadian Yoga teacher and educator, Eva Hamilton.
Barbara's passion for yoga extends beyond the physical practise. She is also deeply interested in the origin of yoga, yogis, yoga philosophy, and Buddhist philosophy. Over the years, she has been fortunate to spend several months in India, attending retreats at prestigious ashrams such as the “Phool Chatti Ashram” in Rishikesh and the “Tushita Buddhist Meditation Centre” in Dharamkot. She has also attended classes at renowned yoga centres like “The Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre” in Dharamshala and “Mahi Yoga Centre” in Dharamshala and Goa.
Additionally, Barbara has a regular meditation practise and has received the “5 Mindfulness Training” at Thich Nath Hanh Plumvillage in France.
