Owned and run by Penny and her partner Andrew, Bathley Hill Farm Stud is passionate about promoting British bred sports ponies and providing them with opportunities in competitions beyond “Pony Club” activities. They believe in utilising the best lineages the country has to offer. With a careful breeding programme, they have built a strong mare herd capable of producing competition ponies.
Top-quality foals are produced each year at Bathley Hill Farm Stud. Every mare is carefully selected or bred specifically to further the breeding programme while ensuring they fit well within their herd. The emphasis is placed on allowing horses and ponies to be themselves while also being disciplined riding stock.
Stallions are chosen with great care to complement each mare, considering various factors in their selection. Strong bloodlines, excellent temperaments, and conformation and movement are of utmost importance to Bathley Hill Farm.
Throughout the year, the horses, and ponies at Bathley Hill Farm actively participate in shows and competitions. This not only allows the young stock to gain valuable experience but also provides an opportunity to receive outside opinions on their progress. In the winter months, the focus shifts to dressage arenas where the newly backed youngsters are educated.
Bathley Hill Farm works closely with the Sports Pony Stud Book (SPSS) and places equal importance on both the mare and stallion lines. The majority of their mares have strong bloodlines, good conformation, and exceptional temperaments. They are presented through the grading system of the SPSS, and many have already proven to be successful through previous competitions and shows.
