Emma Armstrong – 2nd Dan Emma is a 2nd Dan black belt who recently started the Derwent Self Defence Club in Yorkshire. She has been a dedicated member of Bearsden Martial Arts Club and has now taken her skills and passion to a new area.
In addition to our experienced black belts, we have a team of dedicated instructors who assist with the classes and provide guidance to our members. We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone who joins our club. At Bearsden Martial Arts Club, we focus on teaching a variety of martial arts skills, including Karate, Tae Kwon-Do, Judo, Jujitsu, Brazilian Jujitsu, Grappling, and no Gi Jujitsu. We believe in providing a well-rounded training experience that encompasses both physical fitness and mental discipline.
Whether you are a beginner or have experience in martial arts, our instructors are here to help you improve your skills and achieve your goals. We take the safety and well-being of our members seriously and aim to provide a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. We are proud to have a high number of black belts within our club, many of whom play a role in instructing our juniors and adult classes. When you join Bearsden Martial Arts Club, our experienced members are available to provide 1-on-1 tuition to help introduce you to our martial art and the club's training methods. Our chief instructor, Hugh Russell, is a 9th Dan-4th Meijin black belt with over 40 years of experience in various martial arts.
He is highly skilled and dedicated to helping our members improve their techniques and reach their full potential. Eric Walton, a 4th Dan black belt, has been practising martial arts for over 20 years and is passionate about using it as a form of exercise. Ross Walton, a 3rd Dan black belt, instructs both juniors and adults and recently focused on movement skills and controlling distance to an opponent. Jamie Boyle, a 2nd Dan black belt, has been training in Shoto Budo since the age of 11 and enjoys teaching others.
