Robert Thurling officially registered the Bel-Air Cricket Club in 1963. The inaugural games took place at Carleton University's cricket ground. While the club faced financial difficulties initially, it managed to persevere through a combination of match fees and donations.
In 1964, Captain Rufus McCommons' team claimed the first championship title.
