Benfleet Yacht Club

Welcome to Benfleet Yacht Club, a large and friendly club located along the scenic shore of Benfleet Creek in Canvey Island, Essex. Known for its excellent sailing and sports facilities, the club offers great opportunities for both dinghy and cruiser sailing, as well as coastal rowing.

For dinghy sailing and coastal rowing, members can enjoy the sheltered waters of Benfleet Creek, while yacht cruising allows access to the Thames Estuary and beyond. The club boasts many tidal moorings for yachts and has top-notch on-shore storage facilities for both yachts and dinghies.

In addition to its sailing activities, Benfleet Yacht Club also has a superb clubhouse. The clubhouse features a welcoming bar that is open for lunchtime and evening drinks seven days a week, providing members with the perfect place to meet up, unwind, and enjoy a chat. The clubhouse also offers a variety of tasty bites to eat. Furthermore, the club organises an active social and entertainment programme throughout the year, providing members with a range of exciting events to attend.

The club also organises annual events like the BYC Annual Paper Boat Race, a charity event that raises funds for the RNLI. In its 52nd year, the race requires participants to construct their vessels using only paper and cardboard. Entrants can start from inside the BYC slipway or from one of the two pontoons beside the slip.

Benfleet Yacht Club has a busy calendar of events throughout the year, including dinghy races, prize giving ceremonies, work parties, and bank holiday cruises to destinations like Brighton and Queenborough. The club also hosts the popular “Benfleet Yacht Club At Home” event, where all members are invited to enjoy complimentary light buffet food.
